Lamination joins two or more film layers to obtain properties no single layer can provide. One layer carries the strength, another forms a barrier against moisture or oxygen, and the outer layer keeps the print clean and glossy. The result is a pack that is both stronger and better printed than a single-layer film of the same thickness.

The structure is chosen wherever the contents must be protected: products that absorb moisture, contents that must not lose their aroma, packs expected to hold a long shelf life. The number of layers and the material of each are selected according to how long and under what conditions the product will sit.

Because the print can be applied to the inner surface of the laminate, it does not abrade with handling; the logo and product information stay as they were on day one however often the pack changes hands. Our multi-colour flexo unit covers this work at our own plant.

Laminated packaging needs a longer preparation stage than single-layer production. Share the product, the expected shelf life and the conditions the pack will face, and we can settle the layer structure together and move to a sample.
