Metal parts rust while they wait in storage and while they travel. Oiling before packing is a common answer, but the oil has to be removed before assembly — extra labour, extra chemicals, extra time. VCI packaging removes that step.

VCI stands for Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor: a volatile compound blended into the film. Once the pack is closed the compound slowly evaporates and forms a protective layer on the metal surface, invisible and molecular in thickness. That layer keeps moisture and oxygen away from the metal. When the pack is opened the compound disperses and the part can be used straight away; no degreasing is required.

The raw material we use is from the German brand BRANOpac. It suits parts in steel, cast iron, copper, brass, aluminium and chrome, and is produced as bags, rolls, films and papers. Automotive supply, machine building and spare-part shipping are where it is used most.

To select the right product we need the material and dimensions of the part, how many months of protection are required, and whether the pack will sit in a high-humidity environment such as sea freight. Custom sizes and printing are available.
